Terry Reksten

A full-time writer and lecturer, Terry Reksten is also active in civic affairs. She has served on Heritage Advisory Committees in Oak Bay and Victoria, and as a member of the Greater Victoria Library Board and the Oak Bay Police Board. In 1985, she was named an Honorary Citizen of the City of Victoria in recognition of her writing and her work in heritage preservation.

Terry has produced six books of history and biography, including The Dunsmuir Saga, "More English than the English": A Very Social History of Victoria, and The Empress Hotel: In the Grand Style. Her first book, Rattenbury, received the BC Book Award for "an outstanding contribution to the field of literature pertaining to the understanding and enjoyment of British Columbia." She has been interviewed about her research on Rattenbury by the History Channel and by various other media including the Financial Times in London, England.

When not exploring archives and libraries for forgotten stories from British Columbia's past, Terry Reksten works at restoring the gardens at "Carrigrise," her cottage in the countryside of County Cork, Ireland.

Terry Reksten also discloses the aftermath of the infamous Rattenbury murder trial, including what happened to the architect's children and George Stoner, the chauffeur convicted of his murder.
